Have you ever heard a song from so long ago with so many memories tied to it that it made you cry? And didn’t you wish that you could go back into time when everything seemed so much simpler and carefree? Those are songs that are the soundtrack of our lives… the ones that bring back childhood memories, best friends, first love, first heartbreak… the memories.

Sure, you’re supposed to have total recall of who won the Battle of Hastings and what motivated Hamlet. And probably you should be able to label all five Great Lakes. Perhaps you can…perhaps it’s easier to remember that first kiss. Or the time you and your friends couldn’t stop laughing in math class. Or your locker combination or cafeteria mystery meat or the scintillating scent in the air when you-know-who glided past your desk. Or maybe it’s easier to remember the thrill of passing the final or the fun of the last homecoming game or hugging your best friends in the world goodbye and knowing you’d be in touch forever. But still, wondering just a little: will we always remember?

As I look back on all that’s happened–growing up, growing together, changing you, changing me…there were times when we dreamed together, when we laughed and cried together. As I look back on those days, I realize how much I truly miss you and how much I truly love you. The past may be gone forever…and whatever the future holds, our todays make the memories of tomorrow. So, my lifetime friend, it is with all my heart that I send you my love, hoping that you’ll always carry my smile with you, for all we have meant to each other and for whatever the future may hold.

I’m freezing cold, soaking wet, there is so much salt in my hair my mouth and all over me. And my shoes got wet.
But you know what? This was one of the best nights of my life :)
